The RoyalKey Movement League exists to celebrate, promote, and commingle various movement arts. We began as various “ninja” style parkour and gymnastics facilities that saw a need for regular, open competitions that could unify the various brands of freestyle movement. There are many competitive formats available in these individual movement styles, such as parkour competitions and Ninja Warrior, so we wanted to create something that was open and accessible for athletes of any movement background to test their mettle and be exposed to various styles and disciplines.

Our goal at RoyalKey Movement League is to pass down the values of self-improvement, self-discipline, and enjoyment of the grind that comes with growth. As a way to instill these values, we created a fun and competitive environment where the kids could display the fruits of their labor. Meet the minds behind this vision!

Cortez Stanley

I started doing parkour as an extension of my training with my breakdancing crew when I was a teenager. Now I have been a Ninja/Parkour/Martial-Arts coach for nearly a decade. I continue to train and teach because I love the way ninja combines the physicality of sports with the creativity and grace of an art form. I have such a passion for it, and I've been blessed enough to be able to use the gifts God has given to make a positive impact on the next generation. My goal is to be a positive male role model, and to reflect the light of Christ through all that I do.

I started in this community because I love kids! It was that love for ensuring the health and quality of life for our young ones that lead me to fall even more in love with the freedom of movement! The excitement and energy that comes from defying gravity and conquering the impossible is awe inspiring and is the gift that I want to share with the world!

I began training tumbling and taekwondo in middle school. I didn't really care about perfecting my skills; I was always pridefully focused on getting that next trick. By the time I was an adult, my body was beat up and worn down. But when parkour came to America, I couldn't resist. After a few years of practice, I found that it had repaired most of the damage my youth had caused. I became a full-on parkour nerd and took on admin duties for Des Moines Parkour. After several years of teaching newcomers the ropes, I was invited to take on the Ninja Zone program at Sapphire Gymnastics Academy. Coaching kids has been a natural fit for me, like I was tailor-made for it. After a few years of growing our program, I met up with some of the directors nearby to start up a league. We found that we all had a shared vision for the discipline and a heart for these kids. The rest is history!

I grew up near Minneapolis and was lucky enough to be involved with a gymnastics gym where I trained until I was 16 years old. From my experience I learned how to communicate with my body and work through risk and fear! After college, my childhood friend Isaac who was the director of the Ninja Program at TCT reached out, and said he needed a coach to help ignite a fire in his students! I had always loved working with kids and my career goals aligned, even if it was in a gym setting. Fast forward to three years later, we have launched our new program where we get to teach over 200 students in the “Art of Parkour”. I am excited to help grow this new community of driven, passionate and wild kids as they learn how to connect with their bodies in a free and encouraging environment. In due time, I still dream of having an outdoor recreation program where students can grow a deeply rooted connection with themselves and the Earth, as I was so fortunate to be taught!
